DIY | Nose Ring

It's no surprise that nose rings were popular in the 90's. Adopted from the punk culture of the 80's, the 90's made it mainstream. Edgy was in. Luckily photos and films forever eternalize this trend making for handy references. In a popular film from the 90's, one of the supporting actresses herself sported a nose ring. Can you guess the movie? Or are you feeling a bit "clueless"...

The sassy and fierce Miss Dionne from "Clueless" did in fact have a nose piercing. I wouldn't be surprised if many young women drew inspiration from her to get one. Who wouldn't want to be like Dionne? She's hella rad.

No matter her hand with this statement, the fad faded once the second millennium hit. It wasn't until the past couple of years that the number of people to have nose piercings have increased.

For a few months, I pondered getting a nose ring. Back and forth I'd go saying, "I'll definitely get one!" to "well, I'm not so sure..." Well I've found a solution to this- make a fake one! If you're anything like me and you're hesitant to commit to something permanent because of constantly changing your mind, but have contemplated getting a nose piercing, then this DIY is perfect for you. By having a fake nose ring, you won't have to deal with possible infections or an allergic reaction to the metal (not fun) and the tiny hole in your nose that would be there forever (unless you let it close up soon enough). Plus, this option is pain and hassle free, as well. Right there you should be saying, "Sold!" This would also provide you with the opportunity to see what a nose ring would look like on before wasting money to then decide that you don't like it. You could also then play around with which side you'd like it on, if you're serious about getting a real one. Consider this option to be a trial run.

This DIY is quick and super simple to do. Not much is required at all. So hop to it if you're interested!

Materials:
1 Head or Eye Pin (or thin metal wire)
Pencil
(optional but recommended) File

Steps:
1. Wrap the pin or wire around the pencil.

2. Cut the wire before it overlaps the other end with side cutters pliers.

3. With the round nose pliers, bend the wire back 1/4 of an inch in. This round section of the ring is what will be in your nose. It will prevent cuts on the interior of your nose.

4. (optional) File down the end of the wire that isn't bent. This will also prevent cutting, but to the exterior of your nose.

*Done!!*

Posing on stairs because I'm that cool. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Would you try this DIY?

Disclaimer: This DIY (from personal experience) may cause a superficial scrape on the outside of your nose. Clean the ring well and often. Avoid having it too tight on the nose, and know when to give you nose a break (supposing you encounter a similar scenario as myself). I am not a professional; simply a lover of DIYs and crafts.
