Homemade Pop Tarts

A weekend home = a weekend of baking! There's nothing better than making something (in this case not quite from scratch) and sharing it with the people you love. Luckily these pop tarts are a treat everyone will be grabbing for. I made ones with a strawberry, blueberry, chocolate, and apple filling using Stonewall Kitchen and Smucker's jams. These tarts are highly customizable! A bonus of these pop tarts are how quick the prep, bake, and cleanup are, as well. While I prefer making doughs myself, this is a great speedy alternative to meet demand!

Ingredients
Pop Tart
Pie Crust (each pie crust yields three pop tarts)
Egg wash (egg yolk mixed with water)
Jam(s)

Icing
1 cup confectioners sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2-3 tbs milk

Topping
Sprinkles

Steps
1. Roll out pie crust to approximately ⅛ inch thick on floured surface. Trim excess dough.
2. Cut the crust into 3 inch x 4 inch rectangles. Two pieces are needed for each pop tart.
3. Spoon the jam onto one piece of crust. Aim for around a tablespoon or so. Don’t overfill, as that will leave you with a mess.
4. Egg wash the crust and prick the top piece with a fork. This will release the steam while baking. Press pieces together along the edges with a fork.
5. Bake at 400°F for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
6. For the icing, mix powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk together until thick. Spoon onto the pop tart and add sprinkles.

Voilà!

What recipe should I try next?
