A standard part of all drugstore runs, or at least for myself, is snooping around the nail polish stand. As always typical brands line the shelves- Essie, OPI, Sally Hansen, etc; however a few weeks ago when I went for a quick stop-in, I came across a new brand to the stand (or at least new to me)- Julie G from Jesse’s Girl cosmetics. This is the lovely YouTuber Julie G’s range!
Right away this brand caught my eye. Not only did the yellow tags showing steep markdowns for certain colors draw me in, but the original price itself had me in awe at $3.99. Looking closer at this brand I couldn’t help but fall in love with the petite and pretty packaging. The bottle is cubed with clean lines, adorned with a gorgeous white cursive print for the name, and has thick glass at bottom. Very delicate looking.
Since this polish is petite the fluid ounce of varnish is slightly less than the standard (and pricier might I add) brands; however that minuscule ounce variance makes absolutely no difference to me! Julie G is cheaper, truly amazing quality, has a great brush applicator, and really includes the perfect amount of polish. I find with brands, like Essie, I don’t get a chance to finish using up the polish before it goes gooey and bad. Plus, with this polish you can get two for the price of one from a popular brand, like Essie. I’d also go as far to say that the quality of this polish trumps any others found on that drugstore polish stand.
Julie G polishes have such a nice formula that dries quickly. After two coats, like with most decent brands, you end up with a highly pigmented and opaque finish. This line comes in a range of beautiful colors, as well. With my recent love and obsession with anything pastel, this brand definitely gave me a chance to indulge that and didn’t fall short with the colors available.
The difference between this brand and others, like Essie, is that after 5-7 days those start to crack and chip. That’s not the case with Julie G. I can have it on with no touch ups for nearly two weeks before it starts to chip, crack, or do anything funky; and that only happens at the top due to my nails growing out and having an exposed edge. Honestly so blown away by how this polish holds up; especially being an avid DIY-er!
Oh and it’s cruelty free unlike OPI, Essie, and many other more well-known ones!
If you ask me this polish is a great bang for your buck. And because of that and the outstanding quality I highly recommend it. I for one will be adding many more polishes from this range to my collection. This brand has impressed me extremely thus far and I’m so happy I stumbled upon it.
