Instagram Diary: I am a blogger

Several weeks back, when I made my Instagram public to the blogging community, it went through a makeover. I weeded out pictures that I posted just because. For many months I was wrapped up in the "style" of posting of those I followed. Who I followed and my followers where only individuals I know in person. Since my blog is an unknown part of my life to everyone I know, I tried not to let on too much about this side. Due to this, my photo stream and who I followed didn't reflect a large part of who I am.

However I'm at the point where I'm going to share my passions and connect with fellow bloggers regardless of the people who make up a miniscule part of my life. Not worrying about, more or less, strangers from high school and college has greatly improved my Instagramming/social media experience. What I have taken from this is the importance of doing things for myself, and to not dim my inner light because of others; even when it affects something as trivial as social media. ;) Many people I "know" may have unfollowed me, but I gained plenty of followers/friends who share the same enthusiasm I have for beauty, fashion, creativity, and life!

Leave me your Instagram in the comments!

Spring Has Sprung

Generally I try to accumulate more than five pieces before sharing them in a post in order to classify it as a haul; however I'm too head over heels in love with my purchases from Saturday. This post is out of pure eagerness to share the beauty of what I bought. :)

As I keep expressing over and over again (especially on twitter and instagram) spring weather cannot come soon enough. Though it's technically spring, the future blooms are still covered by two feet of snow. I'm going stir crazy, people! All I want to do is spend time outside, garden, and enjoying spring attire. *praying for the temperature to stay above 40* It's safe to say I've jumped the gun buying these shoes, but at least everything else I can sport now. Gosh, the amount I want to toss the dark bulky layers aside for those that are light and airy is unreal.

What I love about all of these purchases is how light and pale they are; it's definitely a much needed change from winter.

The use of silver and gold on the shoes adds a sophisticated touch to them. At the moment I'm all about the solid colored shoes and metallic detail. This also carries through to accessories. Rather than getting a metal watch, like I usually would, I opted for a faux white leather strap one with gold. Nice and simple. My favorite part of this watch is the pale pink chevron pattern in the actual case. It's a pretty and delicate addition to an otherwise classic and plain watch.

These jeans were purchased from necessity because I don't have many light washes. Plus, I wanted to try out Juicy Couture jeans. These jeans are so incredibly soft and fit my shape very well. Juicy Couture jeans have definitely made a permanent addition to brands I buy jeans from. Honestly, I am just so excited to start wearing these to the point that I've already started planning different outfits out!

So perhaps spring hasn't actually sprung yet, but I'm definitely ready for when it does!

What have you purchased in preparation for spring?

Feels Like Fall

... Even though spring is three days away.

Despite the now two feet of snow on the ground (better than when there was three!) today is mild and sunny with a slight breeze. It is the perfect in-between weather associated with spring and autumn. However because there is a light breeze and a hint of a chill in the air, I've decided to embrace the autumnal qualities of today. Plus it's St. Patrick's Day and being the Irish lass that I am, I must embrace the colors of the Irish flag, which happen to be popular fall colors. Bring on the green and orange (minus the white) because today is the day to not just be Irish, but Irish af!!

Top: Macy's
Skirt: PacSun
Jacket: Hollister
Shoes: Steve Madden
Clutch: Target
Tights: Target
Necklace: Target
Watch: Target
Rings: Kohl's
Nail Polish: Essie's Go Ginza

Now off to a dinner prepared by my mum! Can't wait to dig into the corn beef and cabbage and munch on Irish soda bread!

How are you spending St. Patrick's Day? :)

Let's Go To The Mall (Haul)

I'm so over winter right now. It's mid-March and only now is the three feet of snow on the ground finally melting. Supposedly (and unfortunately) there is more snow to come. *boo hiss* I'm just so sick of it all!! And that's saying something because I'm an avid skier. I just miss the sun and the warmth it brings. Where have the long bright days gone? The ones where I can go outside for hours on end and get sun kissed skin. Honestly, welcomed are the days where the light doesn't leave us so quickly. Daylight is beginning to last a bit longer, but it's not enough. Coupled with the fact that the temperature has reached 60 in the last week I have a serious case of Spring Fever.

With this "illness," it has left me on a cleaning rampage. Out with the old and in with the new. Packed away are dreary items for winter which have opened up space for the freshness of spring. Here are some of the first bits I purchased in preparation for spring 2015!

Physicians Formula: Two additions to my everyday makeup routine

It wasn't until recently that I've been using a bronzer and highlighter for an everyday natural look. I saw the use of those products as two extra steps that I didn't need, nor would they look quite right on any given day. Regarding the highlighter, I would use a slightly shimmery nude or white shadow on my brow bone, but neglected the other sections of my face that could use a little extra light. Bronzer was one of those products I avoided because being the oh so fair woman that I am, no matter the blending skill used, there was too much of a contrast happening for a casual kind of day.

However I had a change of heart and have decided to add the two seconds it takes to highlight into my daily regime, as well as bronzing. After searching high and low for a bronzer, I've found the perfect shade for my everyday routine. Both of these products also happen to be from a brand I've been eying every time I walk past that particular display at Walmart. This company's use of marketing shades as "translucent" drew me to giving them a chance in hopes to find products that would compliment my skin tone rather than clearly look unnatural.

At first glance, this product looks clean and classy. From the simple silver package to decorative pearl, the Physicians Formula highlighter looks to be one that would be high end. Despite its sleek appearance, the price did not reflect that notion. This gem was $13.95! Since I purchased it over a month ago, I've been using it practically everyday because I've been pleased with it that much. I would say given the quality and also the amount of product given, this purchase was a sure bang for my buck.

As with any decent highlighter, it adds a nice shimmer- not too much and not too little. With the thin contouring brush given (though I opt for just using my fingers), this product goes on easily with very light coverage; however it is buildable. It's great for bringing a hint of light to all the right areas or when you need that extra shine for a night out.

This highlighter lasts for hours on end. It is weightless and smooth. Having sensitive skin can make me a bit hesitant to try new face products, but I was not left regretting the use of this. It did not make me break out, look oily, or anything of that nature. Physicians Formula highlighter gives dimension to my face and really completes a lovely soft everyday makeup look.

This product isn't technically a bronzer, rather a powder that evens and corrects skin; however it's great for both. I've only ever tried it once as a powder, and it worked well, but I prefer using the darker tiles as a bronzer. It is the perfect shade for natural looking definition.  I no longer have to worry about having an orange-y finish!

Under the pretty mosaic pattern is a powder press sponge to make for easy application; however I use my Real Techniques contouring brush. Either way, this product goes on easily for a fine weightless finish.

As with the highlighter, this does not trouble my finicky skin. It is buildable for a darker contour. This powder also stays on for hours. The container is filled with a good amount of product for $13.95, too. It has been a great addition to my daily routine!

So far I'm thoroughly impressed with this brand. I definitely recommend these products for sensitive skin and/or if you're looking for a natural yet glamorous look. Five stars to Physicians Formula!!

Have you tried either of these products? What's your favourite highlighter and bronzer?
