How I Style Over The Knee Boots

It wasn't until this past winter season that I welcomed a beautiful pair of over the knee boots into my ever growing shoe collection. Contrary to popular belief, over the knee boots are actually incredibly easy to style. Though they are certainly something trendy and a statement piece, there are distinct ways to align all that they are to your personal style. The outfits below are a representation of how I style over the knee boots and how they fit into my own style.

How to Add More Text on Snapchat

Who else feels very limited by Snapchat's single line of text? I sure felt that way. As a rambler, having this restriction is a predicament in itself. Seriously though, condensing can be impossible! Along with that struggle, I'm also a writer meaning I hate dumbing down the language. Text talk isn't and will never be for me. However with this "hack" I've said farewell to blurbs and to writin txt like dis 4eva & u can 2. #yas

Cat Eye & Red Lip Tutorial

Yesterday I uploaded my very first makeup tutorial! This is the second video on my channel now in efforts to "relaunch" it! Haven't heard all about me restarting? Well you should check out my first video! *wink wink, nudge nudge*

Seeing as this is my first tutorial to go up, it was mediocre at best. Doing makeup in front of a camera is a lot harder than it seems, people! Between trying to describe my process (that I don't even understand at times) and staying in frame, let's just say part of this attempt at a tutorial was a fail. But that's ok I think! I can only improve from here, right? Practice makes perfect. Regardless of video quality, having a blog means I can compensate for its crumminess by writing out my methods. And that's the point of this post!

Homeware Haul

Lately I've been all about interiors. Scoping them out on Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, etc; I've just been lusting over the simple and chic looks. Interiors have always been a topic to grab my interest since I was very little (it was all that HGTV I watched growing up no doubt), but now more than ever that passion has been amplified. Perhaps because I'm old enough to undertake projects now, or simply because I rely so heavily on and appreciate aesthetics. Really anything designed based is something I'm passionate about. Between school and being at the point in my life where I'm needing to pick a career path, maybe this passion and the insignificant hauls and design based posts I publish here and there are really ways the universe is guiding me in the right direction. Though doubtful, I'd like to think that way at least, because then I wouldn't be as lost as I feel.

Where I've never felt lost, though, is when designing. This winter break I turned my plans into actions and redid my bedroom. Between painting my room white to match my all white furniture, downsizing, moving furniture around, and buying the items below, my room is really shaping up into a style I've wanted for a while now: minimalistic chic.

Jam Thumbprint Cookies

Having just had the holiday season wiz by has left me with loads of dessert recipes I intend to carry out making throughout the year. One of those being this non-traditional sugar cookie recipe. Sugar cookies are all well and good normally, but adding something as simple as jam surely makes them showstoppers.

Despite it being a relatively mild winter here in New England I refuse to shy away from the typical seasonal style. The apparent lack of snow shan't stop me from sporting stylish sweaters and outerwear. I love my layering and toasty bits enough that throughout this season I've still managed to cycle in plenty of new pieces. This turtleneck and coat from LOFT are newer additions to my ever growing wardrobe. I'd been eyeing them for so long and finally caved when given the excuse of gifting them to myself for Christmas (because treat yo self, and all that jazz).

The Ultimate New Year's Resolution

Over the years I’ve made my fair share of New Year's resolutions. Growing up that’s just something we’d do in school upon this time of year. Everyone clung to the glimmering hope of this new beginning as if it were a life changing opportunity. However, I never understood this. The whole adage “A new year, a new me” was never something I could get behind and rely on.

Don’t get me wrong, if the time ticking from 11:59 pm to 12:00 am is the motivation you need in order to make positive alterations in your life, by all means, embrace that. Who am I to judge? Just don’t forget the simple transformation of a date doesn’t have to dictate the direction of your life. That’s why for the past 5 years or so I’ve only ever stuck to one resolution; one that I consider to be the ultimate for yielding happiness and positivity throughout the year.

I promise to have the strength and courage to continuously better myself.

Within this vague enough promise is a great deal of wiggle room to apply this to any aspect of life and thus leading to successfully keeping a resolution. It is one that (I hope) we all do to some capacity naturally, as it is one of the easiest to stick to, though we could all use the reminder every now and again. Just know that you have the power and control to affect your own life at anytime. Never forget that, lovely.

Will you join me in keeping this promise? Do you have any other resolutions?
