Hello October

As previously mentioned in several of my latest posts, life has been hectic lately. Whenever this happens, things begin feeling a bit stale and mundane. That's how I know it's time to make a change. Change is not only a chance to get excited over something new, but it's also an opportunity to feel refreshed. The welcoming of autumn and October, my favorite season and month, has made for the perfect chance to make a few changes:

1. Hair Color- To begin with I had some natural red highlights in my hair depending on the lighting. However, one day I decided I really wanted to enhance those. So I went into the salon and my lovely hairdresser, Jen, and her coworker, Autumn (also equally lovely) got to work. It had to be a joint effort because my appointment took a bit longer than anticipated and would have run into someone else's. Jen worked on obtaining red undertones for the base color until Autumn had to take over. She added lighter shades of red for highlights so my hair wouldn't be too monotone. As you can see in the pictures below, the lighting affects how vivid and vibrant this color is like with my natural hair color. This is perfect for me, though, since I was so nervous to completely make the jump from brown to red. Jen knew that and thought it'd be best to keep it on the subtler side. This color change is a perfect balance between brown and having the ging tinge I was going for. And it is so perfect for autumn!

2. Blog Design- My last design was ok for the time being. Even when I had made it I wasn't completely satisfied with it. That being said, one night (around 2 am) after I finished my homework I decided to sit myself down and work through this dilemma. After I scrapped my old (but still fairly new design), I scoured high and low for inspiration. I knew I wanted the whole minimalistic look, but I wanted to avoid too much blank space and a cookie cutter design. Though it is still a work in progress, I'm really pleased with how my blog looks! It finally looks cleaner and more professional. Definitely a design I can envision having for more than a few months.

Since I made practically every aspect of my new theme from scratch, expect techie posts in the very near future relating to how to get certain features! Curious about specific ones? Let me know which in the comments!

3. Outlook- Something I'm forever trying to improve upon is remaining positive and content. This month I'm going to make it a point to immerse myself, whenever I get the chance, in anything and everything that makes me happy. (My last post includes a list of some of those things). This will allow me to not feel burnt out and need these random spurts of change as frequently. Every day, every minute, every second is filled with choices. Choices in what you do and how you do it. And I choose to be happy and make the most of my time.
