Cat Eye & Red Lip Tutorial

Yesterday I uploaded my very first makeup tutorial! This is the second video on my channel now in efforts to "relaunch" it! Haven't heard all about me restarting? Well you should check out my first video! *wink wink, nudge nudge*

Seeing as this is my first tutorial to go up, it was mediocre at best. Doing makeup in front of a camera is a lot harder than it seems, people! Between trying to describe my process (that I don't even understand at times) and staying in frame, let's just say part of this attempt at a tutorial was a fail. But that's ok I think! I can only improve from here, right? Practice makes perfect. Regardless of video quality, having a blog means I can compensate for its crumminess by writing out my methods. And that's the point of this post!

Products Used:
L'Oreal Paris Lineur Intense Liner
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara V
aseline Lip Therapy
Sonia Kashuk Lip Crayon in Rosey Nude
MAC Ruby Woo

The Perfect Cat Eye:
Start small.
Draw a thin line as close to the lash line as possible.

Use what nature gave you.
Whether it's done free handed, or with a Q-tip as shown in the video, use what you were born with to help you get the ideal flick for you eye shape. By this I mean, have the wing fall on whatever angle is created by "connecting" the outer corner of your eye to the end of your brow. Draw a thin line on this diagonal at whatever length you desire. This will give you the foundation to create the perfect wing.

Swish, flick, and fill.
Time to connect the wing to lid line with a swooping or straight motion. That is up to your discretion. Fill it in and feel free to line the lid more to make it thicker.

Clean up.
Use a bit of concealer to get more clear cut edges.

The Perfect Red Lip:
Moisturize.
Often times red lipstick can be drying, especially depending on the finish, so starting with hydrated lips makes the application process much smoother.

Line.
By lining and filling in the lips with a lip liner, this will keep the lipstick not only in place, but also increase the longevity of it.

Splurge and spread.
If you really want a great lip that lasts for hours, I would say spend a bit extra on the lipstick itself, as you will most likely be getting a better formula. However, that is not necessary, so just pick one you like and pop it on!

Let me know what you think of this look! What are your key tips and tricks for perfect liner and lips?

  1. Gorgeous look! I don't think I could pull off the bright red lip but am envious of those who can, and you definitely can! I am also yet to perfect the cat eye. Still working on it. :)
